Tha Carter IV is the ninth studio album by American rapper Lil Wayne, released on August 29, 2011 through Young Money Entertainment, Cash Money Records and Universal Republic Records.
Being a highly anticipated album following one of the most successful rap albums in history – Tha Carter III – Tha Carter IV has a lot to live up to. My first impressions of the album, I have to admit, we’re great. Being a massive fan of Tha Carter I and Tha Carter II, I couldn’t help but feel that Weezy’s latest album was a disappointment. However, after a few run-throughs and some deeper listening I came to the conclusion that there’s more to it than what the listener sees at first glance.
A few tracks on the album stand out from the rest; these being Megaman, She Will (ft. Drake), Interlude (ft. Tech N9NE & Andre 3000), How To Love and President Carter. Have a listen to these and you’ll see that Lil Wayne hasn’t lost his ability to put together some interesting and powerful verses. I’ll post their links below.
All in all, Tha Carter IV is a good album. I wouldn’t put it up with the first three Carter albums but it deserves some recognition and definitely a good listen from the fans of Weezy.
